Today I had a chance to have a close look at the brand new 2014 Mercedes E class.
The car on display at Mersedes Benz Connection Tokyo is the top of the line E550 equipped with comfort package.
This car comes with a 4.7L Biturbo V8. The downsized engine improves fuel efficiency while increasing power and torque from 387PS and 530Nm to 408PS and 600Nm respectively. It is an amazing vehicle that has Mercedes Benz quality and prestige written all over.
The exterior underwent a significant redesign and is now sporting a more aggressive but yet elegant look with very stylish LED DRL's extending the lines of the body.
The front Grille is also completely redesigned and now extends the raised bonnet to give it a more sporty look.
The body shape is generally similar as it is the same base model. Despite the such a drastic makeover this is still a "Minor Change".
On the Inside you get very high quality materials, but most of the features are the same. Quite noticable is small screen size for its class.
Overall it looked very similar to CLS, meaning that not a lot of attention was paid to restyling the interior.
And that's not necessary bad as the moment you step inside you are cushionned and pampered by extremely soft leather, comfortable ventilated/heated power seats with multi-adjustment, which along with stylish dash board and analogue clock provide a feeling of relaxation and comfort. A true executive vehicle indeed.
Overall a very nice place to be in.
Technology features got a significant overhaul. Japan will see 5 engines, a very powerful 2L turbo, 3.5L V6, 3.5L V6 diesel, a hybrid, and 4.7 biturbo V8, plus a downsized AMG with 5.5 biturbo V8,
Features include lane departure, parking assist, radar guided cruise control, also LED headlights is a welcome addition.
So far I am very impressed with this vehicle. I should be able to drive one in next couple of weeks with full review following shortly so stay tuned.
